Why Joe Rogan will not go to Canada: Exploring the reason behind the commentator skipping UFC 315

Joe Rogan, the esteemed UFC commentator and podcast host, has declared that he will not be attending UFC 315, scheduled for May 10 in Montreal, Canada. The event is set to feature a welterweight title bout between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, with a women’s flyweight title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Manon Fiorot as the co-main event.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan articulated his reluctance to travel to Canada under its current administration, stating, “I don’t go to Canada anymore… I’d rather go to Russia.” Despite his criticisms of the Canadian government, Rogan emphasized his affection for the Canadian populace.

Rogan’s decision aligns with his previous absences from UFC events held outside the United States. He notably missed UFC 297 in Toronto in 2024 and has generally refrained from international travel for pay-per-view events due to the extensive travel involved.

In addition to his personal travel choices, Rogan has been vocal about political tensions between the United States and Canada. He has criticized proposals from U.S. leadership suggesting the annexation of Canada, labeling such ideas as “crazy” and advocating for improved relations between the two nations.

UFC 315 will proceed in Montreal without Rogan’s commentary. The event is anticipated to deliver an exciting lineup, headlined by championship bouts in the welterweight and women’s flyweight divisions.
