Tupilak Travel wrote on Facebook that they were contacted by the U.S. Consulate regarding Vance visiting their souvenir shop in Nuuk, Greenland this Friday.
Although the company at first agreed to host her — including photo ops of her purchasing perhaps postcards or yarn — they have rescinded the invitation “after careful consideration.”
The company stated that they “do not want to be part of the press show that will certainly follow” and that “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.”
Donald Trump has been relentless in his demands that Greenland be absorbed into the United States, a deranged neo-imperialist fantasy aimed at distracting from his destructive domestic agenda — as well as a pathetic effort to secure a legacy for himself.
The announcement from Tupilak Travel came after the Trump White House announced that Mrs. Vance’s trip had been reduced to a single day and a visit to the U.S. Pituffik Space Base.
Vice President J.D. Vance has also announced that he will be part of the delegation because “there was so much excitement around Usha’s visit” that he decided he “didn’t want her to have all that fun by herself.”
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz — who administration officials are reportedly calling a “f*cking idiot” in private after he accidentally added the Atlantic’s Editor-in-Chief to a war planning group chat — will also be in attendance.
Likely, Vance and Waltz are hoping that their presence on the trip will help distract from the SignalGate scandal that is currently engulfing the administration. If that is indeed their hope, they’re destined for grave disappointment.
